Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching is a powerful and fulfilling process that allows people who are ready to make changes in their lives to do so more quickly and effectively than they would on their own.  As a result of coaching, clients learn to set more authentic goals for themselves, take more inspired actions that gives them enjoyment, make better decisions that truly serve them, and fully utilize their innate strengths so that the goal is easier to attain.

Many people in the world today don’t feel a sense of fulfillment, and they don’t know how to begin creating the life they want.  They may have read several self-help books, none of which were able to produce lasting results for them.  I am one of the biggest advocates of self-help books, and they can be extremely inspiring.  The problem with them, however, is that the ideas discussed in the books worked for the person who wrote them, but that doesn’t mean they will work for everyone.  And many of them only touch the surface.  They don’t get to the real meat of the system and the down-to-earth steps that one needs to take in order to make the desired changes.  They might tell you to think positively, for example, but they don’t tell you how to go about doing that.

Coaching is the highest form of self-help you can attain.  Rather than reading a book based on a system that worked for the person who wrote it, through coaching, you create your own system, so you can be sure it will work for you.  Your life is unique.  No one else has your specific characteristics, goals, feelings, experiences, issues, beliefs, strengths, etc.  So doesn’t it make sense that you would use a unique system based on your life and your authenticity?  How else can you attain that then by working one-on-one with a life coach who can help you determine the best plan of action for you.

Coaching provides people with the support and guidance they are missing, and through the coaching process, clients get to the essence of what they truly want, and gain the skills and insights to obtain it.  Life coaching is like a personal trainer for the inner you.

A life coach can be compared to a personal trainer. A person who has a personal trainer is generally more successful at achieving their fitness goals then they would be on their own. Coaching is extremely helpful for the same reasons: it allows you to make better decisions that suit you, help you stay on track, do less of what isn’t working, do more of what is working, and monitor and evaluate your progress.

How Does It Work?

As your coach, I will help you put together a plan that is in alignment with your values and your vision for your life, and we will build it around your current situation and relationships.  In addition, I will help you identify your greatnesses and implement them into your plan so that you can benefit by leveraging your strengths.

As your coach, I will listen deeply to you, not only to what you say, but also to the underlying meaning behind what you say and don’t say.  I listen to the emotion, energy and commitment in your tone and words.  To listen in this way is much more than simply hearing.  It involves enlisting my heart and intuition so that I am able to truly understand you and know what will move you forward.

One of the most rewarding things I bring to our relationship as your coach is pure acceptance.  You are 100% complete in my eyes, and even though you may not be where you want to be in your life, you are where you are supposed to be.  I accept that fully because it allows me to recognize how you got to where you are in your life and to identify the lessons that can help you learn how to get to where you want to be.  I accept that you will progress according to your own pace.  I never impose my own agenda, values or beliefs onto you.  As your coach, I will never judge you, so you can feel comfortable in a safe environment where you are unconditionally supported.  I will challenge you and offer my perspective when I feel it will move you forward, but you are always free to reject anything I say.  I have no attachment to any ideas or theories I propose, so you never have to feel bad for “letting me down.”  You might take something I suggest and tweak it to fit your style or lifestyle better and that is why coaching will work for you – because you create the system.  I will encourage you and acknowledge and celebrate your achievements along the way.

In this kind of environment, you will thrive in an extraordinary way and will make changes you never thought possible. As you change one area of your life, you will see other areas aligning with those changes, so that your whole life becomes enhanced.  Even though we may focus on one small area of your life, coaching works on a holistic level, so all the different areas of your life effect each other.

Why Should I Choose You?

I am the queen of transformation. I embrace change with open arms and I never settle for a life that doesn't fulfill me.  I can teach you how to do the same for yourself. I will help inspire you to leap and will teach you skills to make it happen. The results you get will far outweigh your investment!

Additional things that set me apart from other coaches:

  • I come to each session with a prepared curriculum designed specifically for you. You won't find that with every coach. I put a lot of preparation into my sessions to make sure they are most beneficial to you.
  • I provide you with summary notes at the end of each session as well as suggested actions for you to take. Although you will only get results if you "do the work," I believe that providing you with an outline of each session helps you to focus on doing the work, rather then trying to remember everything we discussed.
  • You will learn skills that you can use for the rest of your life. I want you to get to the point where you can coach yourself. Then, I will have done a truly great job!
  • I include many metaphysical teachings into my coaching such as the law of attraction and the Emotional Freedom Technique.  By working with me to make changes in your life, you are engaging in a holistic process that will transform all areas of your life, not just the area you hired me for.
  • I am a certified comprehensive coach, as well as a certified personal coach trainer. (Please see the About Faith page for more info about my qualifications.)

How Long Should I Commit to Coaching?

I recommend that my clients commit to 8 months of coaching, however there will be no formal agreement.  I encourage you to make the commitment to yourself, however, to stick with it, because the benefits and value of coaching are built over time.  I want you to succeed and I know that you will if you allow yourself the time to grow. Many clients remain my coaching clients for years because they recognize and value the benefits they receive from coaching.  Remember, even coaches have coaches, and that’s because as human beings, we all benefit from a relationship that keeps us focused and in alignment with our purpose.

What Am I Paying For?

We will spend 45-60 minutes together during our sessions (conducted over the phone), and you will also receive email and phone support in between those sessions.  As you will see, you can get as much value from 15 minutes of coaching as you can from 2 hours of coaching.  It is about the skills and insights you will receive, not about the amount of time we spend together.  The real benefit will come not only from our time together, but also from the new skills you will learn and apply to your life in between our sessions.

Is Coaching Right For You?

Life coaching is not for everyone, so in order to determine if it is right for you, think about the following:

Do you feel you are ready to make changes in your life?  If you are not ready to make a commitment and put yourself as a priority, than you will not get the value you need from life coaching.

Can you afford coaching?  Hiring a coach means making an investment in yourself.  Are you able to pay the coaching fee for 8 months without overextending yourself?

Are you willing to do the work?  As your coach, I will be here to support you, to help you see from new perspectives, to hold you accountable, to push you further than you would push yourself, and to teach you new skills and thought patterns.  I cannot do the work for you however. You will see the true value when you begin to make changes, engage in new actions, start to think and feel differently, and create different experiences for yourself.  Your success will depend on the effort you are willing to put into this to make the desired changes you seek.  When a client remains open to new ideas and perspectives, looks inward and evaluates their life, and implements the coaching tools I teach them, they manifest the lives they seek.  As a coach, I will be the catalyst that helps you take inspired action, and I will support you and help you find the answers and the power inside of you to realize your dreams.

Are you willing to have an open mind and try new things?  You will never grow and change by doing the same things and thinking the way you are right now.  You must be willing to look at your life from a new perspective and try things you haven’t tried before.  You are always free to reject anything I say or request of you, but all I ask is that you be open to new ideas.
